Who runs this
Ruby Grid is a small independent game at rubygrid.org. When this page says we or us, it means whoever operates that site. You can reach us through the contact form.
What we store when you play
| Item | Why we keep it |
|---|---|
| Player name | The name you type to start. It appears on the public leaderboard. |
| Session token | A random string that tells the game who you are during a visit. It sits in your browser's session storage and in our database. |
| Run results | For every finished run: score, moves used, gems cleared, longest chain, date and time. |
| Day streak | The date you last played and how many days in a row you have played. Dates use Jerusalem time. |
Player names and run results stay until you ask us to delete them.
What we store when you write to us
If you use the contact form we store your name, your email address, your message, the date and time, and a scrambled (hashed) form of your IP address that we use to limit spam. Messages stay in the database until we delete them by hand. We delete yours on request.
Technical data
To stop floods of requests, the game keeps a hashed form of your IP address next to a timestamp for about a minute. The server deletes those rows on the next request after 60 seconds.
The web server also writes standard access logs: IP address, time, page requested and browser name. Those logs rotate and are deleted after about 10 days.
Cookies and third parties
Ruby Grid sets no cookies. It loads no analytics, no ads, no embedded video and no fonts from other sites. Every file on the page comes from rubygrid.org. The GDPR and cookies page has the details.
Who can see your data
Your player name and best score are public. Nothing else is published or sold. The database is a single file on the web server, and our hosting provider runs that server, so the provider can technically reach the files on it.
Children
We do not ask for anyone's age and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. A player only has to give a name, and a nickname works. If you think a child's real name or other details ended up in the game, write to us and we will remove them.
Deleting your data
Use the contact form and tell us the player name you used. We delete the player, its run history and any messages you sent within 7 days.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we update the date at the top. We will not apply a change to data we already hold without saying so here.
